Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

We built Thrive Grant on the principle that trust is earned, not assumed. That applies to your privacy too. This policy explains exactly what data we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have. We've written it to be read — not to bury disclosures in legalese.

1. What Data We Collect

Website Analytics

We use Plausible Analytics to understand how visitors use this site. Plausible is a privacy-respecting analytics tool that:

  • Does not use cookies of any kind
  • Does not collect personal data or personally identifiable information (PII)
  • Does not track individuals across sites or sessions
  • Is fully compliant with GDPR, CCPA, and PECR without requiring a cookie banner

What Plausible does collect: aggregate page views, referral sources, device types, and general geographic region (country-level). This data cannot be used to identify you personally.

Email Newsletter Signups

If you sign up for our newsletter or updates, we collect your name and email address. This information is used only to send you updates from Thrive Grant. We use a third-party email service provider to manage our list securely.

Contact and Form Submissions

When you submit a contact form, partnership inquiry, or press inquiry, we collect the information you provide (typically name, email, organization, and message). We use Formspree to process form submissions. Formspree's privacy policy governs the handling of submitted data on their end.

Grant Applications

Applications submitted through our web application at app.thrivegrant.com are governed by the privacy policy of the web application, which is separate from this website. Grant applications involve sensitive personal information and are subject to additional protections and procedures described in the application process.

What We Do Not Collect

  • We do not use tracking pixels from Facebook, Google, or any advertising network
  • We do not use third-party cookies
  • We do not build advertising profiles
  • We do not collect payment information directly (payments are handled by third-party processors)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Newsletter subscribers: To send updates about Thrive Grant, program announcements, and outcomes data. Emails are sent infrequently — we do not spam.
  • Form submissions: To respond to your inquiry. We do not add form submitters to any marketing list without explicit consent.
  • Analytics: To understand which content is useful, how visitors find us, and how to improve the site. This analysis is done on aggregate, anonymous data only.

We do not use your information for automated decision-making, profiling, or any purpose incompatible with why you provided it.

3. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

This website does not use tracking cookies.

Plausible Analytics, our analytics provider, operates without cookies. This means we do not need to display a cookie consent banner, and there is no persistent tracking across your sessions or devices.

Some third-party services embedded in this site (such as fonts from Google Fonts) may set their own cookies or make requests to external servers. We have minimized third-party dependencies to protect your privacy.

4. Email List Management

If you have subscribed to our newsletter or mailing list, you have the right to unsubscribe at any time. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom.

Upon unsubscribing, your email address will be removed from our active mailing list within a reasonable timeframe (typically 48 hours). We may retain a record that you unsubscribed to honor your preference and avoid accidentally re-adding you.

We do not share or sell email addresses with third parties for marketing purposes.

5. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We share data with third parties only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: We use Formspree for form processing and Plausible for analytics. These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies.
  • Legal compliance: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of Thrive Grant, our participants, or the public.
  • Aggregate outcomes data: Grant recipient outcomes are published in anonymized, aggregate form. No individual is identifiable in published outcomes data.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with advertisers. We never will.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the data we hold against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. Our website is served over HTTPS. Forms are processed by Formspree, which uses industry-standard encryption.

No system is perfectly secure. If you have reason to believe your data has been compromised, please contact us immediately at contact@thrivegrant.com.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right to access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Right to correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Right to deletion: Request deletion of your personal data (subject to certain exceptions)
  • Right to unsubscribe: Opt out of marketing emails at any time
  • Right to object: Object to certain processing of your data

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@thrivegrant.com. We will respond within 30 days.

GDPR (European Union)

If you are located in the European Union, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the rights listed above. Our legal basis for processing your data is your explicit consent (for newsletter subscriptions) or legitimate interest (for form submissions where you initiated contact with us).

CAN-SPAM Act (United States)

Our email communications comply with the CAN-SPAM Act. Each commercial email includes: a clear identification of the sender, an honest subject line, our physical mailing address, and a clear mechanism to opt out. Opt-out requests are honored promptly.

8. Children's Privacy

This website is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

10. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Oregon, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from this policy shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Oregon.
